THE ENGLISH DEPARTMENT AT GOLDEN VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL
All Golden Valley students are enrolled in English courses all four years of high school.  As English teachers, we are committed to promoting student growth in reading, writing, listening and speaking.  We are also committed to supporting school wide literacy goals which include an emphasis on students learning to cite, support, analyze and infer both as readers and writers.

In addition to our English College Prep  course offerings, we have English 9 and English 10 Gifted and Talented (GATE) classes, Advanced Placement (AP) Language, AP Literature and ERWC.  Students also have the option of participating in our Journalism Club  or enrolling in Yearbook.

Our English department is committed to meeting the needs of all learners and offers additional support courses for our English Language Learners through leveled language acquisition and literacy courses (ELD 1, ELD 2, ELD 3, ELD 4 and Literacy).  In addition, we offer reading support for incoming freshmen through our ACCESS and Pre-ACCESS classes.  All students, regardless of grade or level, are encouraged to take advantage of English tutoring on Tuesdays after school.
