What Makes GVHS a Special Place for Alissa: "On campus, I'm a Chapter Officer for FFA, and I play Varsity volleyball. One of the most memorable times for me in FFA was being able to raise my goat and learn many new things. As for volleyball, I have many memorable times but the best one is being on a team with great teammates; I feel like there's never a dull moment with them, and I enjoy being on a team with them."

"My most influential teacher at Golden Valley has been Ms. Soberano because she's the one who got me out of my shell, and she taught me that it's important to take opportunities that come to you no matter how scared you are to take them."

What Teachers and Staff Think of Alissa:
"Alissa is an outstanding student to have in class. She has been in my classes since freshman year, I knew she would achieve great things! She has been an FFA Chapter officer for 2 years now, while also being a Varsity volleyball player. Alissa is showing a Market goat at the Kern County fair this year as well. She works hard at her extracurricular activities!" Cassandra Soberano, Agriculture Teacher and FFA Advisor, Golden Valley High School

"Alissa is a great leader on our Varsity volleyball team; she always has a positive attitude and sets a great example for her teammates and our younger players. She is the student/athlete who every coach wants." Kirstie Park, Activities Director, Golden Valley High School

"I have had the honor of coaching Alissa for the last 2 years, and she just exudes what it means the be #BulldogStrong. From the day of her first tryout, she’s been the most helpful girl I've ever encountered, always going the extra mile to be the best teammate possible. She has undeniable drive being a captain this year and also juggling being the FFA Secretary, she is an amazing leader. Forever grateful for her pride and dedication for her school and those around her!!" Bill Richardson, Varsity Volleyball Coach, Golden Valley High School

"Alissa is a great student and a better person. She managed to juggle sports and academics all while showing service by helping the other students be successful. She would be catching up from a sports-related absence while tutoring another student during the same period. Alissa is absolutely Bulldog strong!" Wade Branch, Math Teacher, Golden Valley High School
