In the 1970s Famous Amos Cookies store was located on Sunset Blvd. The Cookie of the Disco Era! Wally Amos, an Air Force veteran who worked as a talent agent with the William Morris Agency (he actually signed Simon and Garfunkel) took the advice from friends and opened, "Famous Amos Cookies", on March 10, 1975. His business got started thanks to a $25,000 loan from Marvin Gaye and Helen Reddy. It was located at Sunset Boulevard and Formosa Avenue. The business earned $300,000 that year and $12 million in revenue by 1982 proving that chocolate chip cookies are just as American as apple pie.
