PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE: GVHS Re-Opening Information

Dear Bulldog students, parents, and community members,

On Thursday March 25th, the Kern High School District posted to their website, made a press release, and mailed home to parents a summary of the board-approved plan to reopen our high schools by grade level to in-person learning.  The plan to re-open school was again reviewed by the Kern High School District Board of Trustees on their April 6th meeting.  The dates for grade level reopening is below:

1

The return to in-person instruction is optional.  Parents can opt to keep students at home and finish the school year in distance learning.  The school will be taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 including the mandatory use of masks and social distancing.  Student desks will be spaced at a 3-foot minimum and plexi-glass desk shields are available for use.  Sanitization efforts will be extensive following CDC and CDPH guidelines.

Golden Valley will be conducting a survey to determine which students desire to return to in-person learning.  It is critically important that you take the time and effort to complete the survey.  We are asking our parents and students to commit to either continuing with distance learning or attending in-person at Golden Valley.  Once a decision is submitted, we will ask that you continue in this mode until the end of the school year.  The planning necessary to bring students back in this environment is extensive.  There will be one opportunity to opt-in or opt-out of in-person instruction.

The link to the survey determining a return to in-person instruction is here: https://forms.gle/icDtnXDmsJhKpdqXA The survey will close at the end of the business day on April 15th.  If the school receives no response on the survey, it will be assumed the student will remain in distance learning.  We encourage everyone to respond as quickly as possible.

I want to thank the Golden Valley community for walking #BulldogSTRONG during these difficult times.  I am excited to bring students back to in-person instruction and look forward to seeing many of you in April.
