What Makes Fernanda #BulldogSTRONG: For students at Golden Valley High School, two major behavior expectations of being #BulldogSTRONG are demonstrating PRIDE on campus by promoting a positive self image and taking joy in being a Bulldog. For GVHS Senior Fernanda Viveros Rodriguez, she has taken immense PRIDE in being a Bulldog from her position as Rally Chair. For the first three years of high school, Fernanda was not involved with student leadership and was admittedly shy, but decided as a Senior to step out of her comfort zone in order to support all students at GVHS. “I really have learned how to put myself out there and talk to people as well as make connections with those around me,” humbly comments Fernanda, “Prior to joining leadership I was very quiet and shy and I always had a hard time speaking up, however now I've become comfortable with speaking to just about anyone.” As Rally Chair, Fernanda is excited about some of the events that are in store for students at GVHS in Spring including a movie night on the football field, Spring Fling Week, Spring Rally, Senior Activities, Prom, and much more. Ultimately, Fernanda hopes that these events will create meaningful and long lasting memories for students at GVHS. “My goal as a student leader is to make school fun and memorable for students, especially underclassmen who still have more years to go,” passionately states Fernanda,  “Ultimately, I want students to feel like school is more than just a place to learn and also a place where they can make memories and enjoy themselves.”

1Fernanda Viveros Rodriguez (4th From Right) stepped out of her comfort zone this year and was elected Rally Chair. She has shown tremendous GROWTH as a leader.

Beyond the supportive leadership that she provides for all students on campus, Fernanda has given 100% effort in her academic pursuits as evident with an earned cumulative GPA of 4.35 while being enrolled in the most rigorous GATE, Honors, and Advanced Placement classes that GVHS has to offer. Furthermore, Fernanda has passed some of the toughest AP exams such as AP European History (3), AP English Language (4), and AP Spanish Language (5). As a result of her academic success, Fernanda was recently accepted at and will attend the University of California, Santa Barbara in the Fall where she will be majoring in psychology with aspirations of one day becoming a psychiatrist. For Fernanda, her experience as a Bulldog has been meaningful and memorable. “Being at Golden Valley has definitely been a memorable experience. I have learned life lessons and met people who have impacted me in so many ways. Honestly, I'm graduating knowing that I had one of the best high school experiences ever and that I feel really proud of my school.” For stepping out of her comfort zone to become ASB Rally Chair as a Senior and for the academic success that gained her acceptance at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Fernanda Viveros Rodriguez is #BulldogSTRONG.
