What Makes GVHS a Special Place for Betty: "Throughout my high school years, I have been involved in a variety of activities that have helped me grow as an individual. These include swimming, theater, serving as an officer of the Culture Shock, participating in community service through the migrant program, and being a Student Ambassador for CTEC. Each of these activities has been influential in some way, whether by providing a fun and engaging environment or by teaching me new skills that have helped me achieve my goals."
"Several teachers have played a significant role in shaping my career aspirations. Specifically, Mrs. Beavers, Mr. Gomez, Mrs. Dueñas, Mrs. Hurttgam, Mrs. Akins, Mrs. Minney, and Mr. Urmston. They have always been there to support me in every way possible, and have taught me invaluable lessons that have helped me become who I am today. They have never given up on me, even in the most challenging circumstances, and have made me feel that I am capable of overcoming every obstacle that comes my way. I am grateful to them for their unwavering support and guidance, and I will always remember them as my mentors and role models."
What Teachers and Staff Think of Betty:
"Betty has shown all 3 components of a bulldog strong student! She has shown service by participating in the Student focus groups with GVHS and addressing the trash issue on our campus. She shows pride by demonstrating her participation and giving 100% in Forestry Challenge, where she learned Forest Mangement skills and was able to make a presentation about the things she learned and the data she collected to make a case of how the state park would improve its enviromental factors. Recently Betty shared with me that she was chosen to visit Washington DC, which is an outstanding program and opportunity, which will allow her to demonstrate growth as a person. She is a lovely student and a joy to know on our campus. Our school should be so proud of having Betty at GVHS."
