In the 1970s Famous Amos Cookies store was located on Sunset Blvd. The Cookie of the Disco Era! Wally Amos, an Air Force veteran who worked as a talent agent with the William Morris Agency (he actually signed Simon and Garfunkel) took the advice from friends and opened, "Famous Amos Cookies", on March 10, 1975.

80 years ago, Hattie McDaniel became the first African American to win an Oscar at the Academy Awards with her role in "Gone With the Wind."

On December 7, 1941, while serving aboard USS West Virginia (BB-48), Doris Miller distinguished himself by courageous conduct and devotion to duty during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

This week, 5 Golden Valley High School Students earned their Future Farmers of America state degrees.
