The Future of THRIVE Leadership

Thrive Leader: Esmeralda Arinaga
Grade: 11th
Why Thrive is Important to Esmeralda: "Thrive is important to our school because we provide social interaction and support a lot of us may be lacking during social distance learning. Social distance learning has affected a lot of students including myself, so I personally know the struggles facing a lot of students right now. I know sometimes teachers don't have the same mindset students do and that's a bit of what Thrive does is we relate to students so no one feels alone. We motivate and encourage students to do the best they can and be the best they can be. We offer social, emotional, and academic support to our participants and encourage them to reach out for anything. Thrive is a safe space for all students and a friendly environment where we can all grow and THRIVE together."

Thrive Leader: Andres Espinoza
Grade: 11th
Why Thrive is Important to Andres: "Thrive is important to me because it shows and creates motivation, inspiration, respect, and the ability to control matters within yourself and others. I love the fact that I was able to join Thrive to spark changes in others and from there, they can become there own leaders. As Thrive leaders, we provide support from our heart and that allows us to  grow because we show others that it is possible to overcome fears or obstacles that have encountered and use them as a source of power. We show that we can fight battles together and not alone. I want to make sure that students know Thrive is a safe place for everyone because in the end everyone is capable of changing the world and doing big thing when they put there heart and soul into it."

Thrive Leader: Mya Reyes
Grade: 11th
Why Thrive is Important to Mya: "To me, Thrive is important because it involves helping others. And I believe helping others is the best thing a person can possibly do. During this pandemic, there are students who are undergoing hardships, and the one thing that students need right now is motivation to overcome them. And I believe Thrive provides the motivation that students need. The leaders and the participants who are a part of Thrive are all truly amazing people and we came together not only as peers but as friends, to help others. When I first became a Thrive leader, I felt like it was my job to help the participants, but I came to find out that it's not only a one-way road, the participants also help the leaders. And being a part of Thrive has been an amazing experience for me because it has given me the chance to help people, which is a passion of mine. I believe helping people makes a difference in the world, and I might only be one person making a difference, but coming together with Thrive, it makes a room full of people making a difference."

Thrive Leader: D'Anthony Wilson
Grade: 9th
Why Thrive is Important to D'Anthony: "I believe Thrive ( Timely, Honesty, Respect, Improve, Valued, and Engage ) is important because it is a place where anyone can be themselves and not be judged. It is a place where you can go if you are struggling or just need someone to talk to. I signed up to be a Thrive leader because I wanted to be able to have people come to me and ask me for help when they needed it and just to have a friend as well. If you didn't already know, I love to help people, no matter what, that's just in my DNA. But with how Thrive is going right now, I think it's gonna be huge one day because we all haven't met before this year and yet Thrive has brought us all together. And that is something we want because lots of people are struggling with their social life due to the pandemic. Thrive has taught me that no matter any condition, we will always have someone to talk to and I think that was the whole goal of THRIVE."
