THRIVE Leaders 2021-2022
"THRIVE is important to Golden valley because as students we create a safe space for students. Our peer-to-peer support group knows how students are feeling and we provide connections based upon that. In THRIVE we are student support, we cover emotional support, academic support, and social support. We help students establish connections with one another. We provide tutoring sessions every other week and really crack down when end-of-period reports come. We go over weekly topics with students and provide a further resource so students always leave learning something new or thinking a little deeper. As students, we recognize that trying to talk to an adult about teen issues can be difficult, so as student leaders we are available to connect, discuss, and resolve troubles. We are simply providing our help to whichever student needs it regardless of the task. As THRIVE Leaders we make sure students know they are not alone and there IS someone they can go to for help." "THRIVE is important for students at Golden Valley because it is a club that offers support in many ways that students need. They can even come to our meeting and just have fun. We allow anyone to join at any time and lots of or recent members really love it because they came to us as an introvert but now that they have been with us they have extroverted energy and we love that. People really like that we are open to everything, THRIVE is a no-hate zone. So many people rely on THRIVE to just keep them happy or just put a smile on their faces. When one person has a smile on their face the energy from them spreads then we all have a smile. We go over topics like depression and anxiety and we offer the support they need and I can see the massive difference in people when they know they are not the only person going through it and they have others to rely on and get feedback from. It's amazing how the participants work as a team when we have activities. All in all THRIVE is a fun place for everyone and everyone is able to get help whenever it is needed." “THRIVE is not only a club on campus, but is a place where students can come and feel safe. While school can be a place of anxiety and stress for some, THRIVE’s purpose is to help those students feel relieved and accepted. It is important for students to have an area in which they could always go to for support, no matter what it is they need support with or when they need it. Our arms are always open to all and any who just want a person to talk to.
